Fleece jackets can generally be divided into windproof fleece and insulating fleece. Windproof fleece relies on a windproof and breathable membrane sandwiched between two layers of fabric; while insulating fleece is mostly made of a single material, processed using weaving or bonding methods, and is often made of synthetic fibers. This type of fleece is currently widely used in outdoor fabrics.
You can safely put it in the washing machine. Fleece jackets can certainly be machine washed, but it's best to put it in a laundry bag to prevent friction between the fabrics during washing, reducing the possibility of shedding and pilling.
When engaging in outdoor activities, the fleece side of a fleece jacket should not be worn as outerwear, as it gets dirty easily and pills readily. You can wear a single-layer nylon garment over it, which is windproof, warm, and doesn't add much weight.
For warmth, some outdoor enthusiasts choose to wear two fleece jackets layered together, but this is actually inconvenient. Wearing too many layers can lead to overheating and rapid energy depletion. When wearing a fleece jacket, pay attention to the coordination with your inner layers, choosing appropriate thicknesses. Separate thick and thin layers, and try to avoid contact between the inner and outer fleece surfaces, as this easily leads to pilling and makes putting on and taking off difficult.
Most importantly, avoid machine washing your rain jacket; hand wash it instead. The high pressure of a washing machine can cause the waterproof layer to separate from the fabric. Rain jackets are typically worn for extended periods and only washed once, so hand washing is recommended.
The fabric backing of rain jackets is made of synthetic fibers, making stain removal easy. Soak it in neutral detergent for about 20 minutes, then gently scrub heavily soiled areas with a soft brush or sponge. After washing, do not wring; simply hang it on a hanger to air dry. This method is very simple.
