Outerwear should be kept away from rain and direct sunlight as much as possible. Avoid contact between leather and acids, alkalis, salts, or organic solvents. When not wearing an outerwear garment, clean it and store it properly. Shape it appropriately by hanging it on a wide hanger; avoid piling heavy objects on leather goods to prevent deformation and affect wearability. Leather goods should be stored in a dry, cool, and dust-free place, and place mothballs or similar anti-mildew and insect repellents nearby.

When storing clothes in a wardrobe, hang them right-side up. Although wardrobes are for storing clothes, dust can still accumulate, and the seams and adhesives on the wood veneer are particularly prone to attracting insects and mites. Therefore, after storing clothes in the wardrobe, it is best to fold or hang them right-side up. Place mothballs next to silk, wool, and cashmere garments. Overcoats, down jackets, suits, and light-colored outerwear are best covered with dust covers.

When removing outerwear in public, place it right-side up. When going to public places like restaurants or cinemas, if you need to remove your outerwear, first turn the garment right side up, then fold the sleeves in half to tuck the lining inside, and drape it over a chair. It's best not to leave the garment open; the lining should rest against the chair back.

Whether to dry outerwear right-side out or inside out depends on the material, color, and drying time. For most fabrics and lighter colors, there's little difference between right-side out or inside-out drying. However, for silk, cashmere, wool, brightly colored cotton garments, and denim garments that easily fade, it's best to turn them inside out after washing. Otherwise, the intense ultraviolet radiation from the sun can damage the fabric's softness and color. For underwear, it's best not to dry it inside out, as dust, microorganisms, and other contaminants in the air can easily transfer to it. It's recommended to put away underwear as soon as it's dry; prolonged exposure to air can cause itching and other skin inflammations.
